The main point is the patches on this shirt are exactly what they should be, larger, sewn on and do not feature the "TM" initials. Check online now for match worn shirts from the time (Newcastle and others) and look the photos, you will see they match the features described above.
The next big differences are featured on the tags. Firstly, the tag has no initials (abbreviations) next to any countries flags unlike the commercial fan versions which all feature these initials (abbreviations). Another big difference is that only chest measurements are written next to the British flag. Again in the commercial fan version this is not the case.
Most commercial fan versions feature a size (M, L, XL) or sometimes rarer, a size & chest measurements together, one below the other. Again to emphasise, the player versions tags featured on this shirt have ONLY chest measurements, no size or initials (abbreviation) is present. On the players tags all other countries flags have only the size (XL) written next to the them, in the commercial fan version its both the size & initials (abbreviation). Please (SEE PHOTOS) as I've shown all the comparisons written above. Finally the Name set featured on the back is all one layer meaning both colours (Black & White) are printed onto a single layer of felt. In almost all commercial fan versions the added Name set is 2 separate layers of felt (Black & White) ironed one on top of the other. The Name set looks even more different than the commercial fan versions in person and feels different as well.
All the letters are joined together on one piece of felt and the size of the number is just over 10 which is what it should be. Main points repeated & emphasized below. The shirt DOES feature the larger issued premier league patches. The patches themselves are SEWN onto the shirt. The patches DO NOT feature the TM (Trade mark) initials above the Lions Tail.
The tag has chest measurements ONLY next to the British flag. The tag ONLY has the size XL next to all other countries flags. The tag DOES NOT have any countries initials next to their respective flags. The Name Set is printed (Black & White) on only ONE LAYER of felt. The Name Set DOES NOT feature an adidas logo in the number. The Name Set letter are all JOINED TOGETHER in one piece of felt. The Name Set number is very large at just over 10 INCHES.
Other small differences of SMALLER FONT in patches and smaller "R" on adidas logo featured on tag. This is a great opportunity to add an unbelievably rare shirt to your collection.Shirts worn by Alan Shearer don't come around often especially from his very first season at Newcastle. The brown ale shirt from the 2 seasons between 1995 and 1997 is legendary. Newcastle were flying at the time and had some great players. The style of the team was attacking and they played with flair. Alan Shearer has legendary status in Newcastle and around the world. He had a fantastic first season at the club scoring 25 goals premier league goals.
I can't imagine there will be many shirts from this season of Shearers that have been or will come up for sale. Alan Shearer is one of the best players to ever play in the premier league.
He is the Top premier league goal scorer of all time. Top Newcastle United goal scorer of all time. England legend & Golden boot winner.
